Congratulations Mayor-Elect
Na’Cole Thompson!

What an exciting time to be in Leander. Na’Cole Thompson won her bid for Mayor! The Leander Democrats Together are honored to have been part of this victory and bringing positive change to our community. And folks around the region are also noticing and are inspired by the possibilities.

We had a relatively high turnout for this local election which is a healthy sign. There were 5,915 voters and Na’Cole got 3,372 of their votes, or 57% of the total. Her next nearest competitor received 26% of the vote. That shows overwhelming support for this proven leader who also happens to be the first Black female mayor of Leander.

How did this happen? Obviously, it required a strong candidate. But this win would not have been possible without the support of a coalition of volunteers and donors willing to serve their community by educating and then encouraging their neighbors to vote. For all who committed time or treasure – THANK YOU! And a huge thank you to everyone who voted, despite the election being in February and despite just having gone through two previous elections. You make me proud. This is what democracy looks like.
